THE PURPOSE OF ME PICKING CLIMATE CHANGE

i picked climate change because i never knew that it was so much behind it. its not just climate change its more to it like GLOBAL WARMING, GREEN HOUSE EFFECT, how things effect the earth.

i found that this topic was great and met mt standards. i think i learned alot from it. it tought me alot of things that i didnt know even could happen or happend. thats why i found this topic intresting and fun.

i will recomend this topic to others because if i found it so good and good to learned about others will also. they might find it more intresting then me thats good because they get that climate change is not jus about weather its more into it you just got to read and get into it like i did.

Debating "Global Warming"

The controversy over climate change has shifted focus over the years. The main debate now is one of interpretations of science. Frequently, the method of predicting future trends is based on computer modeling, and many scientists argue that there are too many variable factors to effectively see the big picture. While some scientists who believe human activity is to blame for global warming are ready to outline specific actions to prevent more damage, skeptics are looking for more evidence to warrant change.

Many sources mark the Industrial Revolution as the beginning of current global warming. But while many scientists agree that air pollution at that time started the current trend and that human activity is to blame, others believe that climate change is part of the natural global progression, and that human activity will neither worsen nor improve our situation. Some experts have argued that the use of fossil fuels, although it may be a significant cause of global warming, is unavoidable in modern society.

People can't directly sense global warming, the way they can see a clear-cut forest or feel the sting of urban smog in their throats.

Climate Change Capital cuts staff in U.S., Britain

climate change capital advises and invests in companies which finance energy projetcs. Climate change capital is reduceingstaff in response to the economic slowdown which had resulted in some projects being put on hold.

climate change capital said it was cutting half of its staff in Beijing, China. some quite large projects are facing delays due to lack of bank debt finance. the company was not as badly affected by the financial crisis as other project developers.

clean energy projects investment manager climate change capital. It was reducing the headcount at its office in the U.S. and Britain.

Climate Change Seen as Threat to U.S. Security

Such climate-induced crises could topple governments, feed terrorist movements or destabilize entire regions, say the analysts, experts at the Pentagon and intelligence agencies who for the first time are taking a serious look at the national security implications of climate change.

Recent war games and intelligence studies conclude that over the next 20 to 30 years, vulnerable regions, particularly sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and South and Southeast Asia, will face the prospect of food shortages, water crises and catastrophic flooding driven by climate change that could demand an American humanitarian relief or military response. An educational institute that is overseen by the military, explored the potential impact of a destructive flood in Bangladesh that sent hundreds of thousands of refugees streaming into neighboring India, touching off religious conflict, the spread of contagious diseases and vast damage to infrastructure.

Obama's Greenhouse Gas Rules Survive Senate Vote

obama speech on climata change and lobal warming

In a boost for the president on global warming, the Senate on Thursday rejected a challenge to Obama administration rules aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and other big polluters.
The defeated resolution would have denied the Environmental Protection Agency the authority to move ahead with the rules, crafted under the federal Clean Air Act. With President Barack Obama's broader clean energy legislation struggling to gain a foothold in the Senate, the vote took on greater significance as a signal of where lawmakers stand on dealing with climate change. Obama said the vote was another reminder of the need to pass legislation to reduce the country's reliance on oil. The White House had issued a veto threat this week, saying the resolution would block efforts to cut pollution that could harm people's health and well-being.

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is a scientific tasked Intergovernmental body with evaluating the risk of climate change caused by human activity. The panel was established in 1988 by the world Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), two organizations of the United Nations. The IPCC shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice president of the united states Al Gore.

The IPCC does not carry out its own original research, nor does it do the work of monitoring climate or related phenomena itself. A main activity of the IPCC is publishing special reports on topics relevant to the implementation of the UN Framework convention on climate change (UNFCCC), an international treaty that acknowledges the possibility of harmful climate change. Implementation of the UNFCCC led eventually to the Kyoto Protocol.

The IPCC bases its assessment mainly on peer reviewed and published scientific literature. The IPCC is only open to member states of the WMO and UNEP. IPCC reports are widely cited in almost any debate related to climate change. National and international responses to climate change generally regard the UN climate panel as authoritative.

How long has climate change been around?

It is an odd-sounding idea, because the problem is usually assumed to be a modern one, the product of a world created by the Industrial Revolution and powered by high-polluting fossil fuels. But a professor emeritus at the University of Virginia has suggested that people began altering the climate thousands of years ago, as primitive farmers burned forests and built methane-bubbling rice paddies. The practices produced enough greenhouse gases, he says, to warm the world by a degree or more.

Other scientists, however, have said the idea is deeply flawed and might be used to dampen modern alarms over climate change. Understanding the debate requires a tour through polar ice sheets, the inner workings of the carbon molecule, the farming habits of 5,000-year-old Europeans and trapped air bubbles more ancient than Rome.

“The greenhouse gases went up, and they should have gone down” many thousands of years ago, said William Ruddiman. “Why did that happen?” His answer is based on circumstantial evidence. Ruddiman said two events in world history—an apparent shift in the composition of the atmosphere and the first explosion of human agriculture—took place at nearly the same time.

PART 2 CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECT OUR LIVES

This diagram shows the effects of the earth's greehouse gases and how solar radiation enters and leaves earth and its penetration.

Greenhouse effect is a warming of the lower atmosphere and surface of a planet by a complex process involving sunlight, gases, and particles in the atmosphere. On the earth, the greenhouse effect began long before human beings existed.

There are two meanings of the term "greenhouse effect". There is a "natural" greenhouse effect that keeps the Earth's climate warm and habitable. There is also the "man-made" greenhouse effect, which is the enhancement of Earth's natural greenhouse effect by the addition of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels (mainly petroleum, coal, and natural gas

PART 1 CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECT OUR LIVES

Climate change is already affecting our lives and the places we live, and has the potential to dramatically impact the lives of future generations.
The Nature Conservancy is joining with policy makers, community members, businesses, scientists, industry leaders and others to slow the pace of climate change. We work to reduce the accumulation of heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere and help natural areas adjust to the impacts of climate change.
If we don’t act now, we will leave a much larger problem to our children. The good news is that, if we all join in to stop climate change, we can reduce its impact on our lives, on our environment and on future generations.

This image shows a large part of the earth being effected by climate change. the most deadly climate change being moved around is Greenhouse gases and Global warming.
Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of Earths near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation.
greenhouse gases Greenhouse gases are gases in an atmosphere that absord and emit radiation within the thermal infrared range. This process is the fundamental cause of the greenhouse effect. The main greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.

White House Releases Landmark Climate Change Report

Observations show that warming of the climate is unequivocal. The global warming observed over the past 50 years is due primarily to human-induced emissions of heat-trapping gases. These emissions come mainly from the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and gas), with additional contributions from the clearing of forests and agricultural activities."

what can i do to help prevent climate change?

Change a light - Replace a regular lighbulb with a fluorscent saves 150 pounds of carbon dioxided each year.

Drive less -walk bike carpool taks mass transit and or trip chain. All of these things can help reduce consumption and one pound of carbon dioxide for each mie you do not drive.

Recycle more and buy recycled - save up to 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide each year just by recycling half of you house hold waste. By recycling and buying products with recycled content you also save energy.

Check your tires - properly inflated tires mean good gass mileage. For each gallon of gass saved 20 pounds of caron dioxide are also never produced.

Use less hot water - it takes alot of ebergy to heat water. reducing the amount used means big saving in noy only your energy bills, but also carbon dioxide emissions. Using cold water for your wash saves 500 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

Avoid products with alot of packaging - preventing waste from being created in the first place means that there is less energy waste and fewer resourse consumed.

Adjust your thermostat - keeping your termostat at 69 degrees in water and 78 degrees in the summer not only helps with your energy bill but it reduce carbon dioxide emission as well.

Plant a tree - a single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.

Turn off electronic devices when not use.(TV, DVD, VCR, Computer and etc) - simple turning off your TV, VCR< computer and other electronic devices can save each household thousand of pounds of carbon dioxide each year.

Government Warning On Climate Change-Critical Moment

this video is just a little summary about "governemnts warning on climate change" and its critical moment.

When did climate change start?

The earth has been warming up since the industrial age. the machines of modern life and the fuels that powered them began to change the climate. but scientist say climate change began way earlier as in a thousands years ago.

climate change is a change in the statistical distrubution of weather over periods of time that range from decades to millions of years. this can be changed in the average weather or a change in the distribution of weather events around an average.

How does the Governemnt deal with climate change?

when the governemnt is faced with a new requirement such as climate change. there are many critical steps needed to allow us to take care of the problem. first they need to validate if there is a preoblem and they need to classify its type. then they to assure that allocating that responsibility to an agency.

in governemnt everything must join the queue so climate change have to wait untill our pulp mill approcals were out of the way. then the government needs to prepare position on each of the might be involved. in the case if climate change.

Government Study Warns of Climate Change Effects

the impact of changeing climate is already being felt across the united states. for example:
like shifting migration patterns of butterflies in the west of heavier downpours and in the mid-west and east.

powerful tropical storms and erosion of oceans coastlines caused by melting arctic ice. the cities are increaseing in drought in the southwest and more intense heat waves in the northeast

Government Climate Control

Everyone seems to agree that something needs to be done to insure that the Earth is around for the next several generations. There is no guaranteed way to monitor countries and insure they adhere to any agreements. And most importantly, no country wants to do anything until someone else does it first.

Governments can talk continually about making changes but actions speak louder than words ever will. The only way for government climate change talks to do any good is if one country begins to follow through on the changes suggested. One country at a time is the way that climate control talks will begin to protect the Earth for future generations.

the recent Climate Change summit held in Copenhagen was a failure. The major goal of the Conference was to create a Copenhagen Protocol that would come into effect when the Kyoto Protocol runs out in 2012..

climate change on "Australia" (Government)

Climate change has become a major issue in Australia due to drastic climate events since the turn of the century that have focused government and public attention.

Water sources in the South Eastern areas of Australia have depleted due to increasing population in urban areas (rising demand) coupled with climate change factors such as persistent prolonged drought .

All federal and state governments have explicitly recognised that climate change is being caused by greenhouse gas emissions, in conformity with the scientific opinion on climate change.

Sectors of the population are actively campaigning against new coal mines and coal fired power stations because of their concern about the effects of global warming on Australia

Intro CLIMATE CHANGE part 2

why i chose my topic "Climate Change" because its really not jus climate its about other things that connects to that.

Climate Change Reality Check

There’s a lot of talk about 2012 being the end of the world. And if it’s not 2012, it’s the swine flu.
But how will it really end? If the latest scary climate science is any indicator, it looks like humans may be to blame. We know that climate change is happening all around us, but it looks like things are changing a lot quicker than any of us expected.
climate change also connects to:

Temperatures are already on the rise
Extreme storms are becoming more frequent.
The oceans are rising
Heat waves are expected to increase
Our snow season is becoming shorter and shorter

I would like to accomplish the real facts and get people to see the real facts about climate change and tell them the importants about the climate.

Intro CLIMATE CHANGE

what is climate change?

Climate includes patterns of temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind and seasons. "Climate change" affects more than just a change in the weather, it refers to seasonal changes over a long period of time. These climate patterns play a fundamental role in shaping natural ecosystems, and the human economies and cultures that depend on them.
Because so many systems are tied to climate, a change in climate can affect many related aspects of where and how people, plants and animals live, such as food production, availability and use of water, and health risks.

For example, a change in the usual timing of rains or temperatures can affect when plants bloom and set fruit, when insects hatch or when streams are their fullest. This can affect historically synchronized pollination of crops, food for migrating birds, spawning of fish, water supplies for drinking and irrigation, forest health, and more.
Some short-term climate variation is normal, but longer-term trends now indicate a changing climate. A year or two of an extreme change in temperature or other condition doesn’t mean a climate change trend has been "erased.”

Worldwide, people are paying serious attention to climate change. In Washington state, climate change is already disrupting our environment, economy and communities. We can help slow it down, but we must take action now.
